Input not Supported Blackscreen, had to restart PC in Safemode

So I haven't played SWTOR in some time, and I decided to play again. Steam seemed the easiest way to download it so I go through Steam. When I attempt to launch the game my screen reads simply as: 'Input not Supported.' The immediate fix to that however is not clear to me. The odd thing is then, when I go to restart my computer, suddenly upon turning it back on I now have to deal with the 'Input not Supported' black screen immediately upon startup of my PC. The only solvent to this has been to reset my PC to before I opened SWTOR, as if I try to change the resolution in safemode on Windows 10 the option is greyed out and unavailable.

I've tried and had to reset like this twice now and it's too painful to do again. I remember being able to launch the game in windowed mode before, but have forgotten how I was actually able to do that lol. What am I doing wrong? How can I get SWTOR to launch successfully without having to go back and completely reset my PC? I've tried changing the client_settings, I've also tried changing launch options in steam. Neither have worked. I've tried lowering my native resolution before I launch the game this hasn't worked either.

It's weird, I can change screen resolution outside of safemode but not in safemode. So I can prep, but once I've blackscreened I'm screwed. So I can't just go into safemode and reset the resolution. I haven't tried pressing alt+enter. This was my next solvent, but I haven't had the courage to try and start it up again for fear I'll have to spend another thirty minutes to an hour trying to even just see my desktop again. If there is any help anyone can give I'd be super appreciative.

The issue is likely the available resolutions for the monitors attached , in windows look at the largest available resolution it is likley unsupported by the monitor

unfortunately swtor looks at what the system says the monitor can do and try to launch initially with that resolution

either change the monitor or connection method etc , or try updating the video driver if it is oldish , and lastly you can create an override with cru https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU

just allow the native resolution of your monitor etc like 1920 x 1080 60Hz and then launch the game

edit: once the game has launched , you can check the client_setting per https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Technical/Guide-Game-failing-to-launch-on-Clicking-Play/m-p/4809830/highlight/true#M70795

  • Ive been looking for a solution for 4 hours and i need your help.

I beg you ive tried everything, literally everything but nothing worked.

I tried doing the safe mode thing but it goes "automatic fix" or somrthing and the input not suported text appears again.

Im scared because i dont want to touch anything since i dont know how to program or enter archives or whatever.

And i dont wan to restart my pc from 0.

    So pls help me...

My monitor has a resolution of 1024x768 or something like that.

And i have got a nvidia quadro 4000.

And ive got a ACER monitor.

If there is a clearer way to start the SAFE MODE and change resolution somehow i would greet you.

I repeat im scared of losing everything.

    My accounts,my games and files.

Since ive got old photos and if i restart it up i will lose them.

Has ive said i cant do a thing since my monitor is black.

Sorry if this text is long but im in a hurry cuz i use this pc not only for gaming if not also for my studies and i got no money to buy a new pc.

To remind you i dont know about hdmi or thing like that.

I neew to be explained like an old man likely.

easiest solution is likely to plug a different monitor in , even a borrowed monitor to boot back up in windows normally

from there use DDU https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4518 to return to a vanilla install state for the video driver , the original monitor should be able to be plugged back in again, then reinstall the video driver

1024 x 768 is extremely low these days , not sure the game even supports it to be honest, i would say use 1280 x 1024 minimum

  • If i plug a tv, would it work?

Wince i dont own a dpare monitor and mostly my family doesnt own much computers.

And also can i change the resolution from a diferent monitor?

If i could it would be easier.

Since im syill with the "input not suported"

Ive looked on youtube but most videos have their monitors on.

    But mine is completely black.

Im starting to worry if i have got to reset my windows or to sent it with a technician to solve this.

But i dont know how to find one.

  • so.......

in connected the tv with the hdmi connector, and it only shows my desktop when im in the duplicated mode.

the thing is that my monitor passed to be the second.

what i mean is that when you go to monitor configuration the tv shows has principal and the monitor second,

but i cant change it since its an only option, i also contacted a friend of my father that know a lot of computer and programing and stuff and we did everything we could for an hour but nothing works.

right now i have my tv connected so i can write you easely without my phone,

the easiest to do for me is to put my tv and replace the monitor, but im gonna loose a tv so.

    yeah its very hard...

    thanks for the support tho
