Input not Supported Blackscreen, had to restart PC in Safemode
So I haven't played SWTOR in some time, and I decided to play again. Steam seemed the easiest way to download it so I go through Steam. When I attempt to launch the game my screen reads simply as: 'Input not Supported.' The immediate fix to that however is not clear to me. The odd thing is then, when I go to restart my computer, suddenly upon turning it back on I now have to deal with the 'Input not Supported' black screen immediately upon startup of my PC. The only solvent to this has been to reset my PC to before I opened SWTOR, as if I try to change the resolution in safemode on Windows 10 the option is greyed out and unavailable.
I've tried and had to reset like this twice now and it's too painful to do again. I remember being able to launch the game in windowed mode before, but have forgotten how I was actually able to do that lol. What am I doing wrong? How can I get SWTOR to launch successfully without having to go back and completely reset my PC? I've tried changing the client_settings, I've also tried changing launch options in steam. Neither have worked. I've tried lowering my native resolution before I launch the game this hasn't worked either.
It's weird, I can change screen resolution outside of safemode but not in safemode. So I can prep, but once I've blackscreened I'm screwed. So I can't just go into safemode and reset the resolution. I haven't tried pressing alt+enter. This was my next solvent, but I haven't had the courage to try and start it up again for fear I'll have to spend another thirty minutes to an hour trying to even just see my desktop again. If there is any help anyone can give I'd be super appreciative.
The issue is likely the available resolutions for the monitors attached , in windows look at the largest available resolution it is likley unsupported by the monitor
unfortunately swtor looks at what the system says the monitor can do and try to launch initially with that resolution
either change the monitor or connection method etc , or try updating the video driver if it is oldish , and lastly you can create an override with cru https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU
just allow the native resolution of your monitor etc like 1920 x 1080 60Hz and then launch the game
edit: once the game has launched , you can check the client_setting per https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Technical/Guide-Game-failing-to-launch-on-Clicking-Play/m-p/4809830/highlight/true#M70795
