I"m having similar issues, I'm a returning user after 7 years and I can't pay for a subscription. I get the following error when I pick a any plan. I've been trying since last Friday.

same problem. coming back after 3 years. went to sub 2 days ago and it kept giving me this error;
Purchase ErrorAn error has occurred while trying to process your request. Please, try again later. {0}
its so funny that there seems to be like 4 or 5 different errors right now. i tried every price option to sub and same error for all. It also gave me the error for one time payment for 60 days too but that night the one time payment, payment did go through so im able to play wo free-play. but im still not subbed, only preferred so im missing out on all sub stuff. i emailed customer service 2 days ago when it first happened hopefully they can fix it and sub me.
did that 2 me ... but yet billed my account 2 times and states its closed in my sub history !!! now i gotta try get them to refund me!

3 days ago... still no mail..... Same story.
Tried to subscribe a day ago. Made two one-time purchases (120 days). The bank immediately sent a notice that the money was withdrawn. But in the purchase history, these two transactions were displayed with the status OPEN. The subscription did not appear in the game. Waited a day. Now the transactions are displayed as CLOSED, but I still have a preferred status.
Who can I contact and how to do it if all the support is not working right now because of this virus.I've also e-mail [edit: email address removed] 3 days ago and no response.
You would think they would want to help us so we can provide them a subscription fee.

Have you tried resetting the linked ea/origin account password ? see https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/star-wars/star-wars-the-old-republic/swtor-credentials-incorrect-or-expired/
edit - seems you are best to raise a ticket via help.ea.com in regards to a banned EA/origin account , that needs to be fixed ot get purchasing on swtor working again

A work around I found was to log in and use the link attached to the subscription stats window in the character select screen. It was a working link and I was able to subscribe.

this isnt a workaround per sey
to clarify what occurred, that just means the EA/Origin account is now good, but the link being used was cached in the web browser hence a different link worked, using a different web browser would work too once the account is back to being activated.
but if the ea/origin account is still deactivated and needs a password reset no amount of using different browsers or links will make a difference

If anyone who cant subscribe directly through the site would like they can try to log into the game and click the sub status link under the character list. I didnt reset my password and it worked for me, good luck.
Unfourtantly im having the same kinda of issues,
ive tried the various ways of trying to get around it like resetting my pass words, trying the link in the character selection screen, even tried to search out a way in origin.
nothing. just the same message every time. "swtor.com is temporarily unavailable as we are experience extremely high traffic. please check back soon." sent an email in so at least i can be contacted in some way. cause i've been subbed for years and just last wensday i popped to preferred and noticed this whole..thing when i tried to resub. if i can get some help on this that would be great

What i can say is that the linked origin/ea account is presently the major cause of this issue, that linked ea/origin account should be using the same email as when the swtor account was created (unless it too was changed), and may not be the present email on the swtor account if you have changed it over time.
CS have created this link https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/star-wars/star-wars-the-old-republic/swtor-credentials-incorrect-or-expired/
that link may or may not work , if the linked ea/origin account isnt the account getting the password reset , or if say the account is banned.Once it is known the account is good, clearing cookies and cache can be worthwhile if the browser is caching the old high traffic screen.
awesome. if you can dm me with their findings, that would be great so i can get this issue fixed

You will need to raise a ticket via help.ea.com for origin and raise it for banned account, that needs to be resolved to fix swtor purchasing

I cant seem to subscribe, ive reset my swtor and ea account details but i keep getting the maintenance screen in every browser i try, tried reseting cache ect..
