Re: Crashing at start of Custscene in Swtor

@Infyrnobh @HockeyNut1429 Hi,

Try changing your graphic settings to low within the game and switch to windowed mode. Initiate the cut scene again and report back whether you are now able to proceed.

Cheers,

Nils

    Ok, it worked at first but it is crashing again. Got through that cutscene but instant I start the next cutscene (the dream sequence) it crashes me again. This is still on low graphics, what would be another suggestion?

    If a repair has no affect, and lowering gfx doesn't help

    Non-Streaming launcher - Log into the launcher but don't click Play. Check for small letters "ST" in the bottom left corner.
    If this is NOT present, click the cog icon and then run the repair option.
    Streaming launcher - If the letters "ST" is present, close the launcher, right mouse click on the game shortcut,
    select open file location and delete the BitRaider folder. Then start the launcher

    Please post a dxdiag for those affected by this

    need to look at commonality on hardware/software to begin to look for a reason this is happening.

    Without information of this sort , there is little that be can be done to assist in long and short term.

    Prior to the KOTFE expansion I was able to play the game on Very High graphics settings. With the new expansion, whenever a cutscene appears, the game freezes and then I get a message that SWTOR is not responding. This forces me to close out the game. The only way I am able to get by the cutscenes now is by playing on Very Low graphics settings.

    Below is my dxdiag link:

    Thank you for your help!

    @Cornerbug88

    Side Note - There is another bios available for you laptop v407 your running v406

    I was expecting to see Intel video cards to be honest.

    historically These have been problematic with textures and a lot only got stability switching to medium textures.

    In the Dxdiag it shows your video driver is version 10.18.10.4276 which I am aware of should match, but when I manually look up your CPU/GPU on the intel website it only shows this as the latest available 15.33.38.64.4252 back in Jul ( Not sure why ) , have you tried an older driver just in case ?

    The Intel 4000 with 32mb on board ram is technically below minimum requirements for SWTOR as detailed in the official FAQ it lists the minimum needed as Intel 4100 with 256mb onboard ram.

    Drivers under say Win 8 may also behave totally different to the current drivers under win 10 , due to win 8 drivers being more mature currently

    I never had a problem viewing the cutscenes throughout the original class story and previous expansions. With this new expansion they really upped the ante.

    What are my options at this point @proxos666?

    @Cornerbug88

    Is there any change if you revert to the older video driver ?

    Being a laptop limits your options I am afraid, there is not a lot I can recommend.

    Is rolling back to Win 8 still an option ? this should be available if within 30 days of upgrade.

    @proxos666I reverted to an older driver but it was still a version after Windows 10 was installed. My next step is trying to go back to Windows 8.

    Thanks again.

    Side question: My brother is planning on getting a gaming laptop. Is one able to change graphics cards and upgrade certain components in gaming laptops, unlike mine, or should he invest in a desktop?

    Thank you! @proxos666

    I was unable to revert back to Windows 8 (another issue) My next step/purchase will be a desktop.

    For those of you who still want to play a semi-decent looking version of the game and get by the cutscenes, here is what works for me. I adjusted my Graphics Quality Preset to very low and then activated Bloom, which automatically adjusts Shader Complexity to high. Next I adjusted Character Texture Atlasing to high. (Refer to Image D) This is what allows my laptop to play through cutscenes, so try this or play around and see what works for you. I know for myself, I need my character to look semi-decent in order for me to enjoy gameplay, at least until I solve my issue permanently. Included are some images so you can see what this looks like. I've also included an image (Refer to image F) with the game set on Ultra Graphics setting. This image can be compared to Image E so you can see the difference between these customized settings versus Ultra.

  • Issue still persists! Hoping BW fixes this , since they told me they have had dozen reports and tickets on this issue!
