Re: Game completely stops when trying to install on Windows 10.

To me it looks like your friend has an integrated graphics card, not an external graphics card (like from NVidia or AMD) which means that even if you get SWTOR working, it will run very slowly. If I am wrong, please let us know what graphic card she has.

If you have SWTOR installed on your computer, you can also just copy over your SWTOR folder to your computer. SWTOR doesn't have to be installed, you just need to have all the files, and that way your friend won't have to download the whole game.

There could be many reasons for this.

    Try installing DirectX 9: http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=8109

SWTOR still uses DirectX 9 but Windows 10 comes with DirectX 12, and you may have problems when it tries to use the newer DirectX version for it.

Also, if your friend has a anti-virus program, you may need to add launcher.exe and swtor.exe to the exceptions list so they are not blocked.

And definitely make sure that the game is installed correctly; it may crash if some files are missing.

They are very iffy on changing too much and having their system messed up. I agree to a point that it shouldnt be this difficult to get the game running. Also how can there be files missing unless the file downloaded from EA itself is * up?

Of course, they have to decide what they feel safe doing to their computer.

What I meant by missing files is that there may be issues if you hit play before it has finished installing 100%.

Anyway, you can find most of the Windows 10 problems (and solutions) in this thread:

    http://answers.ea.com/t5/STAR-WARS-The-Old-Republic/Guide-quot-How-to-install-Swtor-Correctly-and-address-Windows-10/m-p/4851036

Maybe the replies in that thread will convince your friend that it's a good idea to install DirectX 9, other than that I cannot help you, sorry. 🤐
