Re: Launcher stuck on initializing

@SpursFTW1999

If you also get unspecified error see this guide link

Is handy to know what antivirus is being used, some can interfere.

ESET - disable "protocol filtering"
Kaperskey - disable "scan secure/encrypted connections"
Norton (Firewall) - set exceptions to "Allow" not "Auto"

If using AVG ensure bitraider mini support service stub loader is removed from the "put to sleep unless activated" list in the AVG maintenance

There is a few options to look at

1. ensure launcher.exe , swtor.exe and brwc.exe are in all the exception lists for the anti virus and firewall.

2. Run the game shortcut as administrator

3. if you find you absolutely cannot solve the initializing error consider switching to non streaming (link to guide) (involves a new game download initially)

Hope this helps

In the game folder is a log folder can you provide the latest dated launcher log , what error is it giving ?

Open the launcher log in notepad

    1. Select all the text inside (Ctrl + A) and copy it (Ctrl +C).
    2. Go to http://hastebin.com/, paste the contents inside (Ctrl+V) and click Save on the webpage (Ctrl+S).
    3. Copy the link of that page in your post

Ok as you can see the error is

ReliableSourceContact: Unable to contact reliable source (e101)

change the DNS server used (Link) to googles as a test, after changing the DNS server flush the DNS cache per below and see if any change

    • Open the Windows Start Menu
    • Type ‘cmd’ in the Search field and right mouse click on cmd and run as administrator.
    • Type ‘ipconfig /flushdns’ and press enter

Have you ever altered the Windows Host file ? just to be certain

Your DNS is resolving alot of options for cdn-patch.swtor.com , 5 actually

    8.253.45.239 8.253.131.121 8.253.45.249 8.253.131.111 8.254.230.158

For me as an example I get two different IPs, now this can change depending on DNS server used but the Host file will override and insert its own regardless of DNS used.

    :\WINDOWS\system32>nslookup cdn-patch.swtor.com
    Server: router.asus.com
    Address: 192.168.1.1

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: a56.d.akamai.net
    Addresses: 23.192.239.152 23.192.239.174

I guess it cant hurt to check if you press the windows key and paste the below

    %WinDir%\System32\Drivers\Etc

open the host file in notepad and just check to ensure there are no entries fro cdn-patch.swtor.com

From here it will likely be a firewall issue so ensure launcher.exe and swtor.exe are in all the exception lists for the antivirus and firewall.

Also check the firewall on the router/modem

After trying reboots, looking through every firewall/antivirus I have, it still gets stuck on main assets downloading when on non streaming and initializing when on streaming
