Re: Need help with gaming mouse

Sadly it didn't work, the link that the steelseries company has on their website doesn't make a profile like it said it would. Thanks for your help though

the bottom half explains how to do your own macros , it does mention ensuring ingame mode is unchecked or nothing works

    1) First make sure the enable ingame mode is unchecked. The 'enable in-game mode' function actually disables the buttons and is a function geared for World of Warcraft only.

    2) Access: Button assignment -> Custom Macros -> New
Select the no delay option, input the commands as you normally would on screen. Save the macro and exit the macro manager.

This macro will apply to whatever button you chose to edit and it will also show up in the button assignment -> "custom macros" section so you can apply it to any key.

I saw that, and it works everywhere but in game.  I set the mouse button to use the key "/"  and in this chat I can press that mouse button and it'll spam that key, but in the game it wont use it on the keybindings. ///////////////

And both the game and the mouse program are set to run as administrator ?

usually right mouse click on the game/program shortcut select properties , then compat tab and down the bottom will be a tick box for run as administrator

I do know that a lot of programs need this to interact , this one I'm not sure but its the first thing to double check

scroll down here to Delarious post here  maybe this will help

    quoted for ease

The reason for the problem is occuring is 2fold, 1: SWTOR requires admin access to make any changes to the game. This means that you allso have to give the Steelseries program admin access by going into the Steelseries folder and selecting all 3 application programs (the cataclysm mouse has only 2 i think), right clicking them and chose properties, compatibility and check the box that says "Run this program as administor.

The second part of the problem i'm not sure is with bad application recognition in the Steelseries program or if it's in SWTOR not recognising gaming mice custom profiles (my guess is the latter since so many had this issue from many many different brands)
Anyways, the second thing you have to do is: After creating your custom macros by assigning keys to ctrl+2 or what ever button press you prefer, is within the Steelseries application select "Profiles" in the top left corner and select "Edit program/app" In here, you can choose what game, file, folder what ever should make the steelseries app force activate your custom profile, in this case
SWTOR has 2 apps in its folder, the first one you will find is the launcher, this is not the application you need to add to make the macros work. you want "whatever your file location\Star Wars - The Old Republic\swtor\retailclient\swtor"

This will cause the game to automaticly recognise keypresses on your mouse when you assign the buttons you want in the keybinding editor in SWTOR

Man, I know this should work, but for some reason it still isn't working. I tried exactly what it said to do atleast 10 times, restarting everything everytime.  But no result.  I'm sorry for being such a difficult case :/

I'm not sure how much help I can be with this

I gather you have made swtor.exe run as administrator as well , that is the file he is referring to in the retailclient folder

I presume that is also the file to be pointed to in the profile settings

Thanks for all your help, I did have it ran as admin but it still wouldn't work for some reason.  But I appreciate everything you've done and all the time you've put into helping me. Hopefully I'll figure it out eventually haha
