Re: Subscription Issues 2021 (not steam purchases) bought from swtor.com

@proxos666

Given how frequent are the reports of Steam subscription not working either there is no guarantee this won't be a huge waste of time. I see no reason to use any sort of additional 3rd party software when this worked just fine for me previously and I really would rather have this sorted out.

I've just purchased more CC using the new card credentials just fine again. However, going to the website and attempting to enable in-game purchases of CC claimed a CC purchase was required in order to do so. Which I did with no result as it remained disabled.

Also, the 60 Rub being charged from the card at a failed purchase of subscription happens to me as well, so as apparent from the post just above, it's not a localized issue, but rather something that support should look into.

    @Yoghurt_I

    Steam purchases only fail for 2 reasons, swtor/ea account is disabled for purchasing or the swtor account is not linked to the steam account prior to purchase....

    card verification will happen for all new cards , from there the merchant either allows purchases or rejects in communication with the issuing merchant

    Subscriptions will usually always fail with debit pre paid cards , whilst they are good for cartel coins they are not allowed for recurring subscriptions

    Given I've just tried to enable in-game CC purchases on the SWTOR account itself and that failed, I have little faith in anything working properly right now. SWTOR account, EA account, Steam account - all that is just needless clutter that breeds errors and such. SWTOR account is all I should need for everything concerning SWTOR and I would very much count on this getting resolved without me needing to go an extra mile in order to do something that should be simply and straightforward.

    As I've just checked again, merchant allows purchases from the card without issues, and so does the bank. It's not a pre-paid debit card, and the exact same type of card worked perfectly fine for subscription for two years prior. The only thing that changed are the expiration date and security code. Bank blocks the transactions for subscription because the system attempts to use the old credentials even though I input the new ones, just like I do on CC purchases that are passing without issue.

    Thanks, but somehow I don't think that making a likely half-an-hour international call in order to recite this entire conversation and get the similar 'we don't see any issues on our side' sort of response is a good investment of anything. I've already mailed the support. Given it's not my fault this is happening I would expect them to actually do something for a change and figure out what the issue is.

    In any case, thanks for trying to help.
  • Well the email support directed me to the phone call support as well, since they apparently aren't supposed to handle billing related issues via mail. So that was a waste of time, but at least they answered within a day, so it wasn't too bad. Honestly though, making an international call to support will probably cost me as much as 6 months of subscription itself, so not going to bother. Resolved the issue by just paying from a virtual Qiwi card, which I had some leftovers on. Honestly, I still have no idea how SWTOR charged me for subscription for 2+ years if they supposedly didn't store my card credentials, nor why the system kept trying to charge from the card with old credentials, even when I was typing new ones in. Maybe it's a recent thing. I do hope that they'll look into it even if I'm not going to pursue the issue further, but honestly, the likelihood of that is slim. Anyway, hopefully this helps someone who might find themselves in a similar situation.
