I dread every patch. Each time a patch is released, it downloads, goes to install, and then I have to repair the installation. Every time! The bigger patches like 5.3 aren't great. I've been trying to repair the game for almost two days now. The launcher is currently repairing 31 files which makes absolutely no sense because my game runs fine. Pre-5.3, the game ran fine. How are 31 files corrupted? It makes no sense. I read something on the old support forum about this very issue. SWTOR support told the forum member to run chkdsk which is ridiculous. It's not a disk issue. It's a launcher issue!

@Ganden_V I do not often say this but you are best switching to streaming launcher , or do you get the same issue with that one as well ? I have seen this repair loop before with the non streaming launcher although these days it is rare, causes have been varied , some have been a memory corruption issue, some was due to an overclock/memory voltage/timing and some I could not identify a specific cause. for, those that I could not find a specific cause streaming launcher (bitraider) seemed to be the simple solution.

@Ganden_V Just to provide some more info for those that get this , once it gets into this repair loop , it is best to start the install again, the only safeguard is once a good patch was done, is to copy the entire game folder as a backup, and when this repair loop occurred , copied the backup across and try the patch again. It is worthwhile confirming ram and that is ok and remove any overclocks etc also ensure the system isnt going to sleep in the middle of the patch but like i mentioned switching to bitraider is likely the less stressfull way in this case.

@Ganden_V There are a number of errors mainly windows update errors the last one though is a 12b checkcode It strongly suggests one of the memory sticks is likely faulty FAULTY_HARDWARE_CORRUPTED_PAGE (12b) This bugcheck indicates that a single bit error was found in this page. This is a hardware memory error Edit - this is the official page for that error code - Link

@Ganden_V This would also explain the repair issue you have just on a different topic, have you deliberately stayed at 14393.rs1_release_sec.170327-1835 version of windows ? latest is now 15063.rs2_release.170317-1834

@Ganden_V May wait till you get new ram if that is what yo uwant without testing the existing sticks, mind everything points to a memory issue so it is very likely the one of the sticks. Once you get the new ram let me know and can look at fixing the windows update errors your getting, just dont want to do this if one of the sticks is causing corruption also check for a new motherboard bios at this link, but also best with new sticks , wouldnt update whilst existing ram is suspect

If you know a bit on how to boot to a usb or dvd try using this to test the ram, if it is 2 x 8Gb sticks pull one out and test indivdually

When ready open a command prompt as adminstrator and run the below command initially

sfc /scannow

see if that alone fixes things.

Its after 10pm here , worst case will be back here similar time tomorrow.
