returning player - security key blocking log in

I'm also having this issue, and with the coronavirus, they've shut down customer service. I just want to be able to play the characters I've had since beta while I'm in quarantine.

@ashestoroses018 @nikthetrip The support lines are currently closed due to the coronavirus (as you may have noticed), so a support representative is likely to pass by and help you with your issues when they're able. I would suggest taking a look at this guide and seeing if you can remove it yourself as well if you haven't already.

The button linked in that article no longer exists on the website. That page hasn't been updated in 4 years. I've upgraded phones, moved, etc., in that time frame. Honestly ridiculous to expect people to save a one time code somewhere for x number of years, then make it literally impossible to remove the token from the account. Had the account for roughly 10 years, and I can't access it - and I'd be having the same issue with or without the pandemic. 😕 Makes me wonder, yet again, why I've ever given a cent to EA, since hundreds were spent on an account I literally have 0 access to.

Hey there, I just had the same problem, although I have found a solution. It turns out that it was actually quite simple. You do not need to go to customer support. Go to this website https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/star-wars/star-wars-the-old-republic/swtor-security-key-faqs/ and simply scroll down until you see the title "WHAT DO I DO IF I LOST MY SECURITY KEY OR CAN'T ACCESS IT?" After you enter your display name and password, leave the Security key code box blank, and click Log In. It will then ask for your Security Key Code. However, LEFT CLICK on the "Lost Your Security Key?" white text just under the code box. It was difficult to spot at first, and I barely noticed it was a button rather than a heading for the Customer Service information below it. Hope this helps.

When I do that, there is never a pop up. I know for a fact my password and everything is correct. It continually says, "display name, password, or security key is incorrect". Nothing pops up to deactivate the security key. I've had to do a reCAPTCHA several times.

My password, per my email, was changed in February of 2018. The saved password I have in my computer is from March of 2018. I know it is correct.

oh then in that case i do not know the cause of the problem, all i do know is that once you get past the login you are all set even though you do not have a security key code. It seems that the problem was more complex than I thought. What i can tell you is that it most likely isn't the security key preventing you from logging in, as it is acceptable to leave it blank. hopefully this at least narrows it down for you and you can focus on trying to reset username/password if possible.

I've had this issue exactly, but I've been locked out for months at this point.

Lost my access when I upgraded my phone... lost the authentication app.

Please help me, EA.com, you're my only hope!

You can try to remove the security key manually by entering your Display Name and Password, leave Security Key blank and click Login.  The on the next page where it asks for your Security Key, click the link below the field "Forgot your Security Key" to get sent an email to remove it.

If you do not receive the email, see the steps in this guide here.

If your still aren't able to manually remove it, for security purposes you would need to call customer service per here as they can only assist with removing the security key via phone.
