Screen goes blank when running in full screen 1920x1080 (windowed or not)

My game will not run in 1920x1080. It first started out that after I launched the game my screen would go blank. Almost as if it was turned off. I didn't have a cursor, couldn't ctrl+alt+del to have anything pop up and not even alt+enter worked. It seemed as if my computer screen was turned off even though it clearly wasn't. The only thing I could do was hard restart my computer but even then after it flashed the windows logo my screen went into that blank state. I could go to bios and such and my monitor would work. It's like the game changed the resolution of my desktop that was something my monitor couldn't display. The only way I was able to fix it was I had to hook up an old somewhat broken monitor and go into dual monitor mode. Then sign in with a blank screen then use the second monitor to change the resolution of the first one once I put in my password. So that shows the computer was running fine in the background just would not display anything on the monitor. It said that is was at 1920x1080 but the monitor that was blank didn't pop back on until after I changed it to something else. I could revert it back to 1920x1080 no problem and it was then as if the nothing happened and it was working fine. So for some reason, me running the game in 1920x1080 makes my screen go blank. Not black to where I can still see my mouse or can load the task manager. I literally can't do anything on the screen. So I'm thinking it has something to do with the refresh rate or something.

But I then tried running the game again. same thing, screen went blank but before doing anything else I pressed alt+enter and my screen flashed back on and the game was visible but in windowed mode. I went and tried to change the resolution in the game options to 1920x1080 and it went blank again. Only way to fix it is to alt+enter. I tried going into the client_settings and doing things such as setting D3DFullScreen = false and all that but it didn't work. Made sure the refresh rate was the same as what my monitor displays. Both set to 60. The game would not run fullscreen 1920x1080 without making my monitor go blank. I even tried reinstalling both the game and drivers freshly then before even loading the game up for the first time, editing the client_settings file. Still would not work in 1920x1080.

I attached a dxdiag file and here are my "client_settings" settings

what is the native resolution of the AOC 2460G5 is that a 1920 x 1080 144Hz monitor ?

just checking as the diag is saying 60Hz though, just confirming the AOC 2460G5 is the correct monitor model ?

  • Yes it is and I was aware of that but when I first got a monitor I didn't have the right cable to support 144 so I kept it at 60. I got a cable a little bit ago but I only got a single link DVI-D instead of a dual link and have been too lazy to switch it to get a new one. But I switched it to a dual link, got my monitor running in 144Hz and now the game starts up fine and displays perfectly. So thank you very much! For some reason the game, even though I set it at 60, didn't like my monitor or something. Was very weird because this is the only game I've had this issue with so far. But thanks again!

  • Same issue, but I'm pretty sure that my monitor is running 144hz. It fixes if I turn my monitor on and off again but every time I reboot my pc it goes back to black. I'd appreciate any help.
