SWTOR Crashing GPU Driver

Since the release of 4.0, SWTOR has been causing my graphics driver to crash and I cannot figure out the reason why. This isn't the first post about it; in fact back in 3.2 customers reported similar issues. I am reaching out here because those those forums were not updated with solutions to the issue.

My current desktop set up is:

I was able to look up information on the crashes from the reliability monitor. Here is the information:

12 GB RAM

240 GB SSD

AMD Radeon R7 370 4G GPU

AMD FX(tm)-8320* Core 3.5GHz CPU

Code 117 and 141 is likely one of two things

Faulty Video card or two video driver related

Initially Try using DDU to remove the current drivers and then install the latest from www.amd.com

If it persists redo the removal of the video drivers and install an older version of the AMD video drivers.

Doesn't hurt to check temps either

Thanks! I will try that. Though I do have a question- Why does this happen only when I'm playing SWTOR? I have other games that I play too and they don't have this issue.

Because every game is different. SWTOR is using a pretty rare engine that was modified extensively, so it can create really unique problems.

Would it be wise then for me to talk to MSI about creating a driver that is optimised for SWTOR?

They won't. Because 1) too few customers and 2) Nvidia/AMD create the drivers

I would of said this game is a very good stress test on the cooling system, hence why I suggested check temps.

It will increase temps more then most other games, this isn't a fault, except possibly with cooling, if heat is causing issues.

Well I swapped out my new AMD cards for my old nVidia one. I checked the temp and it managed to stay at 66°C with the game playing.

Thanks for the suggestions, I did try them all. I suspect I may have to take the GPU back and perhaps get an nVidia one. I wouldn't be mad, as nVidia is old reliable but is too bad as this one is good.

You could RMA that card for an identical replacement, use the below error report as justification, especially if swapping the card out things are good again.

I gather the PSU was of sufficient size for the change of video cards

PSU is at a perfect size. It's 2 years old, ~450W. Don't smell any smoke or anything from it when I run my computer. No mini-explosions.
