Having same issue, on character select screen it always crashes now on the first attempt. Always works on the second attempt. I found if I have other windows open -dual monitors- I have to have everything minimized to reduce the freezing but always freezes on first launch. I'll provide directX report when it happens on next crash. Side note - I just updated to Windows 10 Creator update, not sure if that has impact or not since its a large update.

I'm pretty sure it's because of Windows 10 Creator update. I've experienced the same thing 2day after updating - crash on 1st attempt and successful login on 2nd attempt. And yday and before it was completely fine.
Yep,. sounds like you have my issue and that is a common factor so far. Not sure if original poster has the new update.
