Unable to reset password on account.swtor.com

Hello,

After some time I thought that I'll try to play SWToR a bit more again. So, I try to log in on account.swtor.com, enter my display name (it is correct one), password and security key and get a response "Login failed" in red. Nothing else, not a single detail. So, figured I'll try to reset the password, it's been a while so won't hurt to update it. I use the ""Forgot your password" link, get mail sent to me, click on the link and am taken to reset page. So I enter my display name, new password, new password again, security code and.. I get a message in red "An error has occurred". Nothing else, absolutely no other details.

I've tried this in Firefox, in Chrome, even went to old Chromium version - nothing, same nonsense everywhere. Cannot log in, cannot reset. And no, account is not hijacked or hacked or anything such. So how does one reset the password for SWToR account then? Service provider, EA and Bioware, provide also absolutely no support whatsoever.

Best regards,

Seno Crestwalker.

  • I'll post here as well instead of creating a separate thread.. I am have this exact same issue. Tried various web browsers but nothing seems to work. When trying to reset password I also get "An error has occurred" and can't get anywhere else with it.

I heard it could be because of my physical authenticator which came with the collectors edition so I'm trying to get it removed. However, when trying the steps needed to do so, it's not accepting any passwords to let me put in for lost/stolen authenticator for me to remove it.

  • Hello,

I will try that option, will let you know how it went.

    Hello,

UPDATE: wrote mail to the suggested address and after few days, received a response where they sent a verification code to confirm that I am the actual owner of that account. Confirmed it and it took about twice as much time to finally get a response that they've removed the authenticator from my account. Tried password reset and it worked right away. Thus yes, the reason for this issue is the old authenticator. I don't know whether the smartphone app would cause this too or not, but in any case I got my password finally reset. So, anyone who faces this same issue, do it like so too, it may take few weeks to get it resolved but it will get resolved, at least it got for me.

    Best regards,
