Unable to subscribe due to error

I have been unsuccessfully trying to resubscribe for the past hour or so, using both PayPal and direct debit, both of which have worked without issue near the beginning of June for a CC purchase, and yet I am always met with the same error message when trying to pay for a subscription.
It reads:
"An error has occurred while trying to process your request. Please, try again later. {0}"
I've searched online and through here for various bits of advice on what might be causing it and it seems to often be a case of the EA and SWTOR account email addresses being separated and that the solution tends to be resetting the password of the EA account associated with either the email address the SWTOR account runs under or the ID the SWTOR account runs under.
I've tried this multiple times for the email address, to no avail and have no idea what email the EA account with my SWTOR ID could be running under, nor if I would even still have access to it if that one is indeed the issue, given it's been 10+ years since I'd have last accessed it if so.
Would love any help to get my subscription up and running again!
seems there is an issue purchasing on swtor.com at present, best to wait 24 hrs, otherwise if linked to steam, steam purchase will work
