5% web store discount replaced by Coaxium?

My son has just pointed out to me that the webstore no longer offers the 5% discount. Is this why coaxium was introduced? To soften the blow of removing this discount? I note coaxium is to be added to the PC client soon. Will we be losing the 5% discount there too? I hope this is just a temporary bug and the webstore discount returns (and stays in the PC client). I believe the discount was due to CG saving money on apple/google store commisions which made sense, but why remove the discount and make players pay the same amount as before? It feels like an attempt to increase profits. I don't feel the coaxium is a comparable replacement to a 5% monetary saving. I'm probably just going to continue purchasing through the google store in future for convenience.
