A way to actually fix the game

This is a follow up to a less than serious take on pirates, part of the game that’s become stale is because it has become a collection game. All games evolve and change, but what made this game unique and different is mixing characters and creating teams that could never be on a team together. The theory crafting and experimentation lead to the height of this game, which didn’t necessarily correlate with the most money made.

Now teams are built to be fielded in one or two ways, with little deviation. Lifters are added before teams are fully launched, with no explanation as to what or why they lift a specific team or combination or how it is supposed to work.

Teams are built for specific modes, with kits that make it hard to balance. When we are investing we simply won’t know what their focus is and how best to use them without major testing, with omicrons that may do very little, with no chance to refund them if they are useless or less than necessary.

This also doesn’t cover how GAC, TW and TB are just about relics, mods and what new meta toons you have. TW has been a joke, there is one planner and it practically encourages sand bagging. GAC has people dropping in order to climb up and earn rewards on relegation. And TB is about collecting random and often unnecessary teams. All while the game encourages spending on LSB and not distributing Zetas to help build up those strong teams or, now, cadences that give you no room to go back and deal with other farms.

Are we now in late stage SWGOH?

  • I’ve been visiting the swgoh forums for 9+ years, and I’ve seen claims that we’re in “late stage SWGOH” for that entire time.

I do agree about the fragmentation of our inventories though. There are some units I’ve barely ever used because they were farmed to be a TW / GAC defence team and that’s pretty much all I’ve done with them since gearing them up.

I don't really understand why there's such a negative take on pirates.  I love the soundrels, the scum, the villainy of the Star Wars universe.  For me, it's one of the things that makes Star Wars special.  I personally, am pretty interested in this red guy and his crew.  What I don't want, is to stare at another super miniature picture of Chewie or Qui-gon or Mace and try and work out which I'm looking at.

It is a collection game.  That's exactly what it is, and always has been.

Yeah, that did draw me in.  Seeing, one of the original adverts with Boba on a darkside team.  My original goal was to get Boba and field him with a mixture of baddies.

I don't see a difference here.  If anything, the more characters, the more choices and variety, right?  Surely, in the early days things were pretty stale.  Especially, before real modding.  Also, aren't datacrons adding a layer of variety we never had?

I think no matter where you are in GAC, you see a variety (IMO).  I guess, with these new FDCs......that is changing (for the worse).

You're straying away from your point here....I think.   I'm not sure what this paragraph's topic.

Agreed, but that's not new, is it?   I guess guilds deliberately putting Tanos on the front wall because they may bug out.....is newish and super low.

Disagree, and it's a naive outlook on GAC.  People are free-fall relegating because they can't be bothered, unmotivated, don't have time or think they'll lose.   They'll try again when.... they can be bothered, get motivated, do have time or think they'll win.  If there are players that think they'll earn more by dropping down......they're not very smart.

Disagree again.  The game encourages you to spend on things that are new and shiny.  I do agree that right now that's sort of out of control.  The game doesn't need to encourage you to spend on LSBs.  The price of LSBs is all the encouragement you need.

Agree.  The issue here is that it puts pressure on your peers to force you to collect what they need you to collect.  IMO, this is wrong.  I really dislike what TB has become and how it's forced guilds to dictate to its members.

I think it does.  I.e. if you play forever, you'll eventually catch up (providing you play hard and efficiently).

I don't think so.  The original LSBs brought in the most income for the game it has ever had.  Although a lot of what has happened recently, isn't good (IMO).  CG is innovating the game and keeping things fresh.  They're adding new content all the time.  If I think of how the game is now, compared to when I started at the end of 2017.....I would never stick to it, if that's all we had to do.  I find there are lots of things to do and look forward to.

A lot of your points, I don't really understand.  By that I mean, what has changed or what has changed for the negative?   I don't really get how variety or theory crafting is worse now than at anytime in the past.   My thoughts are with so many characters and with ever changing datacrons; theory crafting  and the possibilities will continue to grow......surely?!

That said, I think we're in a really poor spot right now.  This latest batch of FDCs (especially in 3v3) have made GAC the most depressing of places.  It would be interesting to see the overall battles completed this 3v3 season vs the last 3v3 season................I truly hope that CG look at those stats.  Everywhere I look I'm seeing '1 and done'.

There also have been a large amount of worrying bugs.  Not being able to sign in to the game, payment issues are really alarming.  We also seem to be on a trend where each raid seems to suck more than the last.

All of these issues though are temporary, and motivation is temporary.  There have been some great periods in the last year, and I expect there to be some great periods in the next year too.  There are too many negative thoughts and posts on this forum.

    TLDR

Pirates are cool, leave them alone.
