Ability block the strongest skill?

With all the new super powered characters nothing is as crucial as ability block on key opponents...

Nothing else shuts down most characters as well as ability block. It prevents all the tenacity, buff block, dispels, etc that make a lot of the newer characters so strong.

Kind of makes you rethink your hesitation to work on Boba Fett lol...

Regardless I feel like having characters that can reliably ability block your opponents is going to be more crucial than ever for success in the transitional meta we are experiencing

Debuffs and Dots are pointless against Rex teams

Not when he's ability blocked ;)

The best skill is AOE at the moment. You can stun a few, ability block a few, but if you are against a wedge Biggs anakin Lando team someone is going to drop some pain on you. My ig88 has AOE AB. That doesn't do a lot when one AOE wrecks both IG units.

AOE is on the cusp of being obsolete... those wiggs/ landakin teams are incredibly easy to beat with a solid empire squad

I seriously doubt that. When you have 4 characters that each dump 7,000-14,000 on EACH of your characters they don't last long. Biggs and wedge will always go before ep, and OHK with Biggs special.

Shoretrooper nullifies those AOE's and makes lando borderline useless... he also absorbs that initial wiggs burst attack with 100k prot/ hps.

I use tie pilot at a speed that trumps pretty much anything for the first turn ability/ buff block... and then a big single target hit. Followed by a fast Rex to give TM boost and tenacity. After that point it's all over but the crying. Vader will ohko someone... palp will stun/ shock... shoretrooper re-applies his taunt if need be. It's super effective vs pretty much anything I've faced so far.

It's a team that is far better when player controlled (as are most) but that's really the point anyway... you don't get any real joy when you are not playing your team so why not make one that can beat anything pretty easily.

Anyway... ability block is very strong and will become even more useful in the way things are trending

How does shore trooper nullify AOE, and how does shore trooper get 100k total hp?

Nullifies AOE woth his crit block.. 100k hp/prot through gear and levels... At lvl 85 it's easily achievable with the right mods

ShoreTrooper has just under 30k health at lvl 85 G11, and has 32.5k Protection. With 4 protection primaries you can basically get him up to 60k protection and with and EP lead he gains 20% health and if all the mods are health bonus sets thats another 15% health which is around a 101k total damage wall even before adding in secondaries from the mods. He doesn't really nullify AOEs until after he gets his first turn, which won't be until after Lando and Anakin and Wedge go, but once he gets crit immunity up Lando's AOE is dead, and Anakin's won't be quite as dangerous. Wedges will still get the Empire bonus damage, but again, won't crit which is what most people have their mods on those three to do: More Crit Damage. First Round of AOEs will hurt, second round will be like a nice little splash of water.
  • I prefer AB, most times it will last longer then stun.

But with all the buffs around, I like B2 buff immunity

I'd agree if AB actually blocked counter attackers.

To be honest, except for Galactic War I don't care about counterattacks. In GW it's a matter of trying to preserve protection and health for future fights. In Arena and regular battles, counterattackers hit for such little damage with non-counters that you can ignore them for the end of the battle, and at that point their counters aren't going to out-damage your regular attacks.

    Sunfac in arena disagrees.

Save B2's cleanse for Sun Fac's taunt, then attack around him. He's annoying, but not that bad. (I should point out that I'm using Greivous while attacking, so between his basic and Jawa Engineer's detonators, I do a fair amount of non-counterable damage.)

Yea you can play around him, but I run an aoe team so he's the bane of my existence.

How do you deal with him, if you don't mind me asking? Focus on him from the start and just eat the counters for the first few turns?
