My apologies. You're so right. This makes OP perfectly justified (FOST still has more nodes than Krennic who's in a store where you can buy G12, G9+ gear and HYoda and Wampa. Really no competition)
Krennic also happens to be one of the most OP characters in the game who can earn you a high arena placement.

Well that's because most people don't have him at 7 stars yet and unless he's 7 stars he can't reach gear 12. I have seen multiple people use Krennic, Shoretrooper, Deathtrooper, Thrawn and Tarkin and hold P1.
