In terms that are easier to understand if you're from my generation; think that the old method was an eraser against pencil writing, the new method is cut out the paper it was written on and paste a replacement piece in around the edges. In theory, the only thing remaining evidence is the imprint underneath from whatever you wrote on, and external documentation, a photo for this example, but for the game, receipts, screenshots and video recordings.
