I don't understand how sniping is any worse. It's just different. If battles are faster it just means you need to wait longer to block someon.
Sniping is basically a challenge. How long are you willing to give yourself, or the other person, to win a battle at the buzzer. If you are in 1st and can win in 30 seconds, then you wait until 5:30 to start your battle to block them. If they've started their battle already, then you will have 30 seconds or more to win it back. If not, you leave them 30 seconds. It's the same thing as before, just with different times now.
