I imagine that if I was fighting for top spot in the Arena every day and other people had CLS but I didn't, that would be frustrating. But how many #1-#10 ranked players couldn't pick up CLS?
In the meantime, certain things that were possible but that often feel like chores go by quicker. Also, there's not a lot that CLS can do that can't be replicated by another toon - CLS brings all that together in one toon, which is huge, but not necessarily game-breaking.
It means that if you're swapping out toons in GW to achieve certain effects that you don't need to swap as many times. You can use one great set of mods on CLS instead of 4 or more sets of mods on the various toons that fulfill one of different roles that Luke can take on.
And? As much as I wish that EA/CG hadn't made farm boy the log-in character (which I think was borderline deceptive, and was certainly misleading) and had given us a bit more lead time (5-7 days maybe? with the announcement slightly later so that the end of Hero's Journey would be closer to Aug 31 when the last Farmboy shards hit?), they clearly did want to reward the people who had spend the time and effort to collect and gear the New Hope toons.
If that was their goal, then mission accomplished.
Me, I was on the edge of being able to complete Hero's Journey. Fought that thing so many times. Completed early stages while still waiting for Ben's 7th star. Fighting raids in the middle of the Journey hoping to get lucky on gear, pouring resources into getting 4 Mk3 Holos for r2d2 in just 3 days, it was such a rough, frenetic time and more stressful than I want a game to be.
I got CLS with 2 days to spare, but actually told my guild mates I was thinking about quitting - and I was, thinking about it seriously - because the game had become more stressful than fun.
Really, what has kept me in the game were the on-line friendships with my guild mates and the way that Territory Battles is structured around helping each other instead of knocking someone else out of a top rewards category. Maybe other guilds want to compete with each other and trash talk each other, but we're trying to support each other instead.
So I stayed in, and CLS isn't about winning or losing. I'm not concerned with snagging that last possible Arena Rank increase. For me, CLS is simply a way that I can contribute more to my guild as we attempt to transition to HAAT and as we try to get everyone in the guild a ROLO and a Hermit Yoda.
CLS power creep may be bad, but with the new more cooperative aspects of the game opening with TB, CLS as a community asset feels very, very good.
