Though continuity is important, I think you way overstated the impact of that issue.
Does it harm storytelling? No? Badabing badaboom.
I don’t mean to be rude, and I understand where you’re coming from, but the rules of the universe are going to bend often for plot purposes. It would make sense if Captain Marvel annihilated Thanos in Endgame (or earlier), but that’s not very good storytelling. Even if this rule bending becomes abused over time, I’m not sure it will ever get to the Star Wars universe destabilizing because of it. Considering the amount of random space travel between planets in aaaaaalllll of the media we’ve gotten so far, I think we’ll be okay.
