What we believe happens is that they review the appeal. If they feel a mistake has been made your account is re-opened. If they believe a mistake hasn't been made, you won't hear anything. As you were banned and the appeal was denied, it appears you were banned legitimately.
With the OP, several large accounts have been banned over the last 48 hours. Obviously, they've reviewed the OP's case and decided their ban was wrongly applied.
Whatever has been going on over the last couple of days, it appears to be a new thing, a new detection system or banning for something they haven't actually banned for before.
So, this probably wouldn't apply to your case.
