Best use of crystals for new characters

I’m working on starring up the pirates needed for hondo. What is the most efficient way to use crystals to get them up. Since only two are farmable from nodes, i was looking to go after the other 4. I got a better jump on silvo than anyone else. So kix, brutus, and vane are the furthest behind. I remember the 1299 packs not being a good deal so is just buying shards in ship ents the most efficient for them? Thanks.
