Boba leader contract question

Hello,
I was wondering why I can't get bobas leadership contract to activate in p2 vs Sion.
Ive tried multiple times with no success. Is it because the first enemy to attack is Sion and not a minion?
I've had success with this many times in the past, but today, there's no blue indicator to activate the contract.
Bug maybe?
