Can someone tell me how the door's cooldown works?(rancor raid tier VI)

Can someone tell me how the cooldown on the door works? Sometimes I can pull the switch the moment I enter, while other times I'm forced to wait for the entire cooldown.

Did any of your guildmates attack the same time you did?

Is this occurrence due to some other guildmate continuing where we left off, or is the door timer supposed to be ready only for the first attempt of each phase, and start off at zero for subsequent attempts?

Assuming what you said is true, what about the squad who went straight to the rancor after defeating the captain? It seems my first door switch was wasted on a depleted c squad who went straight to rancor after defeating the gammorean captain.
