CG, does it bother you at all to be completely out of touch?
CG, do you understand that over and over, when you think you're releasing fun, engaging content that players will love, your perceptions do not match what players think is fun?
If you understand this, does it bother you at all?
Are you concerned that something you apparently thought was a great idea is received as boring and repetitive?
Do you understand that your game is not invincible and that players' interest and engagement is what pays your bills?
In short, CG, you've lost the plot. Players engage and spend when they think the game is fun—and when there's a fun, interesting reward for spending. But this update with Coliseum and isolated Era Content is so, so boring. And I can't imagine why anyone would want to spend money on this.
With the old marquee system, this is what someone got when they spent money:
- The ability to get the new character up to extra stars and higher gear/relic, making them useable at their level of play.
- The ability to enjoy the thematic, lore-based synergies with their intended teams—we play this because we like Star Wars, not because it's the greatest game ever made.
- The ability to experiment with how the new and interesting kit interacts with their current rosters.
- The ability to use the new character to elevate and refresh existing teams that had gone stale or fallen out of favor.
- The ability to use the new character in multiple other game modes, potentially leading to better success and more rewards.
With the new system, I spent a few crystals on upgrade materials for ST Luke. This is what I got:
- No appreciable improvement in Coliseum, at least not enough to reach a new reward tier. (I guess I didn't spend enough.)
- No use outside of Coliseum—which is utterly boring and almost devoid of strategy and thus fun.
- No interaction with his intended, lore-based team.
- No access to his full kit. (I guess I didn't spent enough again.)
- No experimentation.
- No interaction with my existing roster.
- No use in any other game mode except the boring, repetitive Coliseum.
- No ability to beat even tier 1 of the Era Challenges—with are also incredibly boring.
Maybe you got some people to spend on ST Luke out of confusion and the assumption that their investment would lead to something fun. But now that players have seen through the sham, I highly doubt you'll see that much spending next time.
Prioritize what players find fun—thought, strategy, skill, experimentation, player choice and expression—or players will simply stop playing this game. There are other games and other things to do with our time if SWGOH stops being rewarding.
But right now, this is all we get from you:
