Confirmed - GW will break at 36k Arena power

I'd read various posts from people reporting at which point their GW became unplayable in relation to their Arena power. Some people as low as 34k said they were now facing nothing but Meta squads from node 6, while others said their problems only surfaced at much higher levels.
I'd been holding my squad at 33k power so I could keep completing GW, but then it dawned on me that that GW is a completely unenjoyable soul-sucking grind that was making me hate the game all together.
Since I had no interest in GW anymore I figured I'd gradually level my Arena squad and watch the changes in GW as they occur. I have around 20 7* toons to use in GW, and I carried this out over the course of a few weeks:
33k: Fairly easy going with one to two meta (Rey/QGJ/tanks/other DPS) teams toward the end.
34k: Again never in danger of not completing it, two to three meta teams tho.
35k: Now it starts getting nasty. Three to four meta teams at the end, and they are preceded by a generous sprinkling of non-meta high-dps teams (droids, DPS toons-sans-tanks) that can burn down a healer, support or taunting tank no matter how hard you try and appease RNGesus.
36k: Meta teams from node 6. Credits can now only be obtained in exchange for your sanity and self-respect.
Obviously these are only my own experiences, but if your Arena team is in the low 30k's for power, then I'd strongly recommend leaving it there if there are heroes you still want from GW or you need a solid credit stream. I know CG said they'd look at making GW easier, but they look at a lot of things, and there's no guarantee they'll actually fix the problem at the heart of GW, which is that its populated by teams pulled from Arena. So the safest best is to make sure you stay ineligible to be opposed to said teams.

Just hit 38k. No real change in gw. Still easily do able.

What part of long/tedious/boring do people like you read as "difficult"

if it isnt difficult, why does it take so long?

In GW, there's this thing called retreat that you need to do if RNG totally screws your attempt.

in the dictionary, there's a word called difficult. I suggest you look it up and get to me about your GW not being difficult.
folowing your logic running a marathon isnt difficult either, just takes alot of time, is boring and tedious.

    30 minutes it that long.

At the end of GW when my protection bars are gone and some toons are dead, this was frustrating to say the least.

Btw, for those of you who are not used to seeing him, yes that's Sun Fac not GS.

steel is on my server I have him as a ally, very hard to beat in arena

Im on the same server. Whats your in game name?

Same name as here Murf uk, before protection I got number 1 twice but now I hover bewteen 50-12 I don't have the gear to break top 10 anymore
  • At these levels yet, but it seems to me GW can be fixed simply by divorcing your opponents from other's Arena teams.

    Suggestion 1:
Cut it from 12 nodes to say six. An algorithm can populate the squads. Perhaps Node 1 is Ewoks, Node 2 Clones, 3 Droids, etc. This would encourage players to build multiple counter teams (e.g. Jawa vs Droid) to fight each node and would prevent players from playing multiple teams with similar builds.

    Suggestion 2:
Limit opposing squads from using the same player over and over. Keep it 12 nodes, but if you kill Phasma in Node 1, she may never reappear for the rest of the day. When the player loses a toon, it is done for the day. The opponent should face the same constraints. Keep everything else more or less the same.

  • Hoping today's update improves things, but as expected there's no major re-work, GW is still just pulling squads from Arena.
I really wish they'd just generate random squads at each node. It would be a blast to actually fight against a geared Hoth Rebel Soldier, CUP, Grievous, Ugnaught, and other rare toons.
