I don't think they intended for it to be this hard, hense the posts they've put out. What it has done is catch them out and drawn attention to their intention/direction.
I suspect this was meant to be another subtle difficulty increase that has been already gradually getting harder. With the intention as pointed out by many others to insentivise the use of consumables thus increasing spend.
If you look across the board at the direction of conquest it's clearly taking a different direction. The grindy feats, datacron material, paywalled feats behind new characters, specific line up feats etc. All of which, if the feedback was listened too does not equate to player happiness.
It is a real shame because the concept of conquest (putting feats/increased difficulty aside) is amazing. Battling over 5 zones over two weeks is exactly the content we wanted, asked for and enjoy.
I also don't mind their being content that is end game driven and is unobtainable for me. C-Pit was a good example of this, with guilds working hard to reach this goal, in the same way LS Geo was.
However now they have been caught out and that there is a clear difference in how conquest was and now is. I believe it's only right that they release a post reflecting where they see conquest going, who's meant to achieve red crate etc and how this has changed. It's the communication we deserve and some honesty would go a long way with the community.
Worth saying that they did this similarly when they talked about R5 being the new standard level for events etc. After it became evident that everything was creeping, I feel this went down well. People like to know where they stand.
