Conquest harder again...?

Yes and no. If they removed some disks that a lot of people used, the idea must be that those disks made it too easy, so removing them makes it "harder". If you already used a different set of disks, then you will not notice the change...which i believe is the gist of the topic above...
I used the disks that make the opp toons "kill themselves" a few conquests ago...they worked, it was not "hard"...but it would look "dumb" after a while...so i DELIBERATELY changed into a different set, that relied on using my actual toons to attack...dumb me.
For some unfathomable reason (to me) the devs decided to remove the disks i used...so i had to "think and work out"...which i did, and the conclusion was to go back to the "enemies kills themselves" tactic. I actually tried to keep using "attack" and some "protection" disks...but some nodes would not allow it...
The reason for the topic was to make sure these disks were missing for everybody...not just my bad luck...That said...is there an official reason for the disk change? (just curious)

The reason is, conquest isn't supposed to be the same thing every cycle. Changing the disks helps to keep it fresh and keep people from using the same strategies in every conquest cycle. This is good for the player because the game mode doesn't get stale as quickly, and it's good for CG because figuring out new strategies burns energy which means more refreshes.

Traya JMK GK Wat Trooper against geos. Traya lead makes the geos put themselves in the red. Wat tank tech to GK for taunt, GK DI on GK so he doesn't die. When Geos are in the red, use your trooper's AOE to take them out.

There are other variants of this as well.

Oh wow nice!! Don’t have JMK but I bet that could be worked around with Malak maybe just to get some fear out there and disrupt them? That’s a neat idea I’ll have to experiment, I’d much rather do the Troopers on the DC node.

Keep in mind that if they are feared they won't take turns and damage themselves.

Probably your strongest with an AOE: Starck, Piett, Death, Dark, Snow, Magma

I don't know if it has been mentioned already, what also works to get your Troopers "faster" is to run Wat with them. His first move should just be a basic and they get TM so you have a bigger chance if outspeeding the Conquest units and get your TM rolling.

That worked in combination with entrenched. Since entrenched is gone, the Wat TM isn't enough.

Everybody picks up a +speed consumable. The Cal/Cere kills feat gives an OP consumable.

For the feats that don't require to win, if nothing else works, try putting those on. Between them you should be able to outspeed lots of teams. Do whatever you need to do for the feat, let the battle time out, rinse and repeat.

I really don't see much point in getting hung up on "harder", because people are apparently measuring it with different yardsticks (just like what is "fun" or "fair" in the GAC debate). Some think it's harder because it's grindier than before, some because some of the later sector feats are actually harder to achieve with under-geared teams, and some others because they couldn't do feats on the bonus nodes like before.
