Is this a joke? In case the numbers on the 50R-T Omicron weren't clear enough: we don't want Conquest-specific Omicrons! Instead you should do one of the following: 1) Just activate all Omicrons...
But I should have added that ALL conquest Omis should also apply in Galactic Challenges. Frankly, just make a "PvE that isn't a Raid" Omi, and have those Omis apply in Conquest, GC's, Galactic War, Daily Events like Assault Battles, etc.
And more than anything, if it's a Conquest Omi, it should definitely apply in Proving Grounds. Those battles are harder than they need to be.
Okay, that said, my core idea is this: Any Omis for Conquest should make conquest less anxiety provoking and more fun. It's not about power, per se. It's about fun.
And so I think that all characters that are released as Marquees should carry a hidden "New Toon" tag. (We already have hidden tags specifically for conquest that they create for feats, this would be no different and no harder to program.)
The "new toon" tag expires 30-90 days after a toon becomes farmable.
The Omicron ability raises the minimum base stats of all "new toons" to 7*/r1. You still can't use 6-dot mods on them, but your base stats won't be any different from an r1 toon's base stats. (Unless your toon is r2+ because you bought shards, then you just use your better base stats.)
Now instead of cheesing things, you get a chance to try out a toon in the new squad where it belongs.
It reduces stress and anxiety and serves as a source of both fun and advertising for the character. We all like to play with new toys. What if instead of groaning and worrying about waiting for the new cheese videos to come out, we could actually get a sneak peek at what the character is going to be like after we 7* them and complete their gear?
No worries (or at least no MAJOR worries) about the toons surviving those "Do 20 battles with X and Y" feats. No particular worries about getting kills, since they're going to be strong enough to kill things as part of normal conquest progress.
But only for the cost of an Omicron.
Honestly, I see this as a win/win for players who care more about fun than min/maxing. Sure you could have another GAC Omi, but we all complain about how frustrating Conquest can be. Wouldn't you at least think about spending an Omi if you knew that none of those "With X surviving" or "Get 100 kills with X" were going to be headaches? None, ever in the future, because while toons would age out of the Omi's benefits, all new toons would get the boost for a few months, and that's when they're always required for feats anyway.
Anyway this is my original text, as written for CG. you can probably just ignore it since it's mostly repetitive with what I've said above. I included it only for the relentlessly curious:
Make it much easier to complete the feats that require X characters to survive. Like, literally for an Omicron, the most precious resource in the game, it could just revive all allies before end of battle.
Make it significantly easier to complete the feats that require X kills by a certain character.
Let me be clear: Conquest a grind, and as such it's unpleasant. But at my level at the top or near the top of the. game, it's not like I can't do most of the feats. So it's not FUN, but it isn't generally anxiety-producing. That said, when I have to get kills with a brand new character and/or have multiple new characters survive to get credit for a victory, it's a time consuming grind AND it's anxiety producing.
You know my e-mail, so you know my forum name. I've been playing since less than 2 months after the game started and I've done a ton to help the community. The combination of time consuming + anxiety provoking is what makes me consider quitting the game.
I want the game to be fun. This isn't it.
BUT IT COULD BE!
What if you had a character with a Conquest Omi that Scaled up characters who are not yet 7 stars to 7*/r1? Better yet, although it's more time consuming on your part, give all new characters a hidden conquest tag that's just "new toon" and remove that tag 60-ish days after it becomes farmable (for hard node farms) or 30-ish (for conquest node farms).
The Conquest Omi I'm imagining will scale all toons with that hidden tag up to r1 whether they're 7* or not (though it grants no benefit if the toon is already r1 or higher).
Now you can get your kill feats without cheese and you can actually see how the character will eventually operate in a squad.
I mean, I can cheese things, sure. I know how to watch YouTube videos as well as anyone else. But I don't WANT to cheese things. I want to see what the new characters can do. It's like advertising why you should farm a toon and how cool the new toon is AND at the same time it resolves literally the worst part of the game where you're spending a lot of time on something that, at the same time, makes you feel bad.
No one minds spending "too much time" on something that is giving them fun.
Give us Omicrons that don't just make things easier, but makes things more fun. The absolutely natural place to begin is with new toons that aren't yet farmable (or have only just become so, and no one could have reasonably farmed them up yet).
New kits and new toons are inherently fun and interesting, but you're turning them into a source of pain instead of a source of excitement. I get that you're afraid of making Conquest too easy. You need to sell Conquest pass, etc. But as I said, the Omicron is the most valuable resource in the game right now.
What if you could give your players something that advertised how cool your new toons could be AND made conquest suck less? And what if you could force folks to spend their precious resources to make it happen?
I'm not like many players. I spend resources mostly on things that make the game more fun. I brought up all toons to g12 (except those still under 7 stars, natch). I try to bring up as many entirely unnecessary toons to relic as possible and use them in Conquest, especially when there are disks available to make the toon stronger.
I honestly would not bat an eye at dropping an Omicron for QoL improvements to the game (like to the mod system). Because I"m not all about power, but about fun. That's why I play games.
But here you have a chance to do QoL and fun and encourage people to spend resources you want them to spend.
Now, you could do mostly the same things with other effects.
For "must survive" feats you could have an Omi that revives all dead toons at the end of the battle. That way g9 toons can pop back up when you need them and the trick is more doing the battle with only 3-4 toons (or really 2-3, depending on how useful the character with the Conquest Revive Omi is during the battle)
For "must kill X enemies" you could have a Data Disk or an Omi that applies Expose to all enemies at the beginning of the weakest character's turn, and then eliminates untriggered exposes at the end of that turn. That way those bonus exposes help a weak toon do more damage than they could otherwise, but don't help other toons at all. (Personally I like this one a lot and think it should be a Data Disk.)
So there are ways around this stuff that don't involve buffing brand new toons to r1, but to me that's the most fun solution, because I get to play with a toy EARLY, before other people have it. And sure, I only get to play with it early in Conquest... but maybe that will just be the encouragement I need to go drop 10k-20k crystals on the thing. You never know.
