Content creators stopping spending

Just seen the video by Ahnald that he's stopping spending, Xereth has also recently decided against whaling - I'm sure there are others.

I do find it concerning for the health of the game when content creators start to leave. I know the above haven't quit the game but I wouldn't be surprised if that news follows in the next few months. Over the last few years we have lost a number of top creators and while I'm sure new creators would step in, it's not quite the same is it.. for many players creator content is an integral part of the games experience and a community not easily replaced. For many this is part of the swgoh experience and is certainly what has contributed towards achieving 10 years.

I don't know if xereth and Ahnalds decision reflects other whales decisions when it comes to spending or if its a creator stance, lack of testing ability or any other reason. Stats and persistence with collesum will tell us that over time I'm sure.

I'm not being a fan boy, for me these videos are the easiest way to absorb information - I listen during my drive to/from work. I care little for the theratics of the video but appreciate the information and let's be honest official communication is limited, being generous.

I do hope the direction of this game changes soon and content in game becomes engaging again. Personally I think there's a very easy change..

Make the 7 characters released absolute bangers and the pillar for 7 new top teams. Release a few marquees the old way alongside to build up the teams and take some unused or older characters to complete the teams. If you wanted to make it fun add shards for a new release rotating per collessum boss. Imagine how good grand arena would be when 7 new teams landed all at once. The problem now is the pay off for the wait is 2 teams full of okayish characters.

  • When people who make money off the game decide to stop investing it’s not a good sign.  Ahnald will probably switch over to Raid being his primary game until the one he’s developing is ready.  I would not be surprised if others follow, not necessarily because of him but he’s done pretty well showcasing the fact that those devs seem more interested in making money off of happy players where the swgoh devs rely solely on the IP to keep them afloat no matter how poor a job they do.
