cost of upgrading: upgrade or wait

Hey guys,

Just a quick question, I have enough stars to upgrade IG88 rom 3*to 4* but I don't really need him until he is 6*/7*.
If I wait until I have enough stars to uprade him at 7*, will I have to pay only 1m (credit needed to upgrade from 6* to 7*), only 100k (credit needed to upgrade from 3* to 4*), or all the credit needed to upgrade from 3*to7* 3*/4* + 4*/5* + 5*/6* + 9*/7* (around 2m).
Same question with toons that are not yet unlocked (poggle in my case), is there any advantage of waiting before unlocking?

    It doesn't matter if you upgrade characters level by level or save up until you can get them directly to 7*. The price is constant. The same goes for getting characters to level 70 - doing it one level at a time will cost the same as bringing them all the way to 70 from 1.

    The only advantage is in gathering shards but not unlocking/activating characters. That way, if you're lucky to get them from a card drop, you'll have shards to rank them up. But that's a pretty rare thing unless you buy chromium packs by the bucket.

    I tend to stash mats and credits until I need them and decide to promote, it's handy for when they surprise us with someone (Yoda) and you can level & gear them quickly.

    If you are going to use somebody daily, go for it though.

    How many purple mats have u stockpiled?


    Right now I have 90 something and still need to do the challenges. (I burned some on GG just so I could play with him in today's challenges. :/ )

    Ok thanks, I will unlock / star them up as I have 5m+ cash, they might be useful for my GW.
