I am spending less on crystals and shard packs because I couldn't afford to level the new characters anyway. And I'm not going to add an EXTRA layer of expense whereby every level of character progress (that you already paid for) requires yet more expenditure on credits.
Getting the shards and gear is hard enough and expensive enough. Not being able to use them once you have them is just frustrating, and the prohibitive costs of maxing out (already expensive) characters does nothing for diversity and experimentation.
HERE IS THE POINT ^^^^ It is killing the game for paying players. It doesn't matter if it is fair or not. The point is that players are responding by spending less, not more. That is not good for the game...
