Cycle of Pain/Cycle of Suffering

So, maybe it's a stupid question, but if my toons get inflicted with the cycle of pain/suffering, do my toons also gain the +Offense or is it only Sion who gains that? Anyone have a strategy for handling this? I had been thinking of just trying to remove the stacks before they hit 5, but if my toons also gain the advantage, then is it really the TM Sion gets that leads to this being bad news for me?
