Damage keeps going to 1 in coliseum

I start a round, it goes to about 50% then attacks start doing 1 damage, 2 when exposed.

Funny, I never experienced this with the original era characters but I've run into this same problem now. The KX security droid's basic attack recovers more health/protection than the damage of the boss. That means if I've passed a threshold, I have to let the game sit on auto for hours to get the rewards.
