Keep in mind, the version of Revan we have is the end game star forge robe version that a light side player gets. I can't imagine they don't release the dark side end game version. (The point is we aren't going to go through a journey to release the pre-mindwipe Darth Revan, but the alternate end game version that has reclaimed his title).
I see two options here with characters we currently have. The 4 new KotOR toons will be necessary for the next event for sure, but the 5th could either be HK or jedi Revan. The former is too easily obtainable to make sense for business and the latter would, for one, limit the pool of people who could possibly be tempted to engage in a panic farm, thereby also being bad for business, but it also doesn't make sense lore-wise. How does end game LS lead to end game DS?
Based on the return date of other journey type events, they could bring back the 1st Revan event this month to allow people a 2nd chance to participate in a 2nd event that requires JKR. This makes sense for business by widening the pool of people that aren't automatically disqualified, but not for lore (which they've done a good job of sticking to so far, even for this non-cannonical rabbit hole we've gone down).
It could make sense for both business and lore to use JKR (after a 2nd round of his event) with the 4 new companions to complete the game's story and defeat Malak in order to unlock him, but at that point they would have exhausted their options for a big event to release Darth Revan. I just don't see that happening.
My best guess is that the 4 new KotOR toons, possibly along with HK (doesn't hurt to throw him in, doesn't matter if they don't bother with him) are needed for the Darth Revan ancient journey. You fight Malak in the event, but don't unlock him that way. You unlock Darth Revan, obviously. Malak is released as a marquee that supercharges the best Darth Revan squad (along with one or two generic sith trooper characters that we've seen in some of these events as NPCs), possibly after the event, more likely a couple weeks before the event to tempt people into spending their hoarded crystals before the main event.
This, to me, seems like the best way to both stay true to lore and to make people spend the most on crystals (which I'm not complaining about, just trying to see it from their perspective). People may find it odd that we only have to panic farm 4 toons this time, when it was 5 last time, but if the 4 toons needed to unlock Darth Revan are recently f2p and they throw in the marquee hook with a strictly p2p marquee Malak, like they did with Sion after the Palp rework, it would hardly be too good to be true. You'd need to panic farm 4 f2p and shell out $$$$ for a marquee to have the greatest advantage.
