Most players seem to think that the character bonus of lvl 9 only requires the specific character to be relic 7. But this suggests otherwise:There is also this bit. Both in the road ahead and Q&A they have said 3. But I guess we'll find out.

Looks like level 9 really does require "squads at or above relic 7", just like the description says. Level 4 already requires a full r5 team. At r3, the datacron can be equipped but is downgraded from level 4 to 3 so the last bonus doesn't apply. The same would happen with a level 9 DC on a squad that doesn't meet the all-r7 requirement.So I guess we're supposed level a DC to 9 and reroll until we get that sweet JMK bonus, all the while believing we won't have to take Snips all the way to r7 because the Road Ahead said r3. Then GAC is about to start, the expensive DC turns out to be partially useless, sunk cost fallacy strikes again and we buy another relic pack. It's the little things.

Almost nobody makes full relic 7 teams, it's usually rel7-8 for main characters, rel5 for those less important - supports etc. Only whales make full rel7 and it's targeted for them. So they could win easily and spend some more money.CG makes the same dumb mistake over and over again - instead of making a lot of players spend a little, instead of bringing new features to make playerbase happy and bring new players, they bring more toxic mechanics to make the few whales spend a ton of cash while pushing away every other type of player.

"At or above relic 7" complements "character", not "squads". Or that's how CG says we should understand that sentence. But native speakers should know better than me, so correct me if I'm wrong.

What it says in game ...

Activates on target character in squads at or above relic 7

As a native speaker, as written that tells me that the level 9 bonus will only activate on a specific character if the entire squad is at relic 7 or above. Maybe this was just a leftover and got missed or something, and it's definitely not what's been communicated to us on the forums.

But instead of CG coming out to clear up the miscommunication all we have are mods that spent years telling us to trust the data in the game instead of the words on the forums to now trust the words on the forums instead of the data in the game.

target character needs to be r7 not entire squad, rest need to be r5 not r3

Is that official, or is that you guessing? Because it literally says the entire squad must be R7 for it to activate 'Activates on target character in squads at or above Relic 7'. In English that means the all characters must be R7 for it to activate on that target character.

So guessing then? Because the interface description and the Relic requirement indicator both contradict that statement.

The interface description says:

Which is pretty unambiguous.

I agree, it's 100% unambiguous. It only activates if the squad is at relic 7 it activates the character ability. What it should say is Activates on target character at or above Relic 7. The way it's written the 'at or above' section applies to the Squad (the preceding noun), not the character.

And in another UI faux pas, the relic indicator level on the Datacrons is for the entire squad needing to be at the indicated level for the effects - except for level 9 where the Relic indicatore isn't for the squad, but for a single character.
