As many have mentioned, Rex is the real Meta. Rex Meta existed long before Maul became half decent. It was the Rex/sun fac combo.
As someone also mentioned, chaze was able to beat that Rex/sun fac combo. But that wasn't the end of Rex, because the smart players realized the could put the two together and build an event stronger Rex based Meta, one that is still around and will still be for the foreseeable future. They will just keep adding pieces to it (gk,r2d2, DN, etc)
