Do you have any "must" rule?
Mine is: if I unlock a character, it MUST BE AT LEAST: 2000 power, lvl V, ability 3 and it's either level 50, or 85. There's no other level in my collection. https://swgoh.gg/u/ianriosdub/collection/

So far I've always been able to participate in anything that's popped up. I ignore ewoks, for no real reason, and I will ignore the phoenix squadron - probably to my detriment, but I can only show my distaste by opting out.
This is solid right here. Pretty much all of this for me too - including the pretty much ignoring Phoenix.
I find it a less annoying gear grind - I'm not just waiting for THIS gear for THIS toon, but working towards a bunch of them at once - every day I can usually give bump one of the faction team members gear.
