Does anyone else have an issue with targeting ships on ship battles???

I mean, I literally ran my finger across my screen from top to bottom by less than a millimeter per touch and I still could not target it. This happens ALL the time. You just have to choose another ship to target. Is it some weird calibration issue on my iPhone or what??? I have no other issues with any other game or program though. This has been an ongoing thing since ships kicked off too.
