DOT calculations

Anyone know how DOT is calculated? Does it take into account the character's physical/special damage? Does it increase with offense up?
For example with vader's lead ability maxed, do empire allies do 30% more damage on their DOT as well?

Each DoT is 5% of the afflicted unit's health (but not protection). Their damage is not based on the character who applies them and therefore cannot be strengthened in any way other than to apply them to a target with more health.
