Down with tournaments
I feel bad because I only post when I have a complaint, and never do when CG does good things. CG, I've been playing since release and this game is pretty sweet and I love 90% of it. But FFS tourna...

The first tournament was using crystals to refresh. That is obviously a revenue generator. Outbid the other players with money.
Now they're based on a free currency that every player can farm with another free currency and you're seemingly more upset about that.
Unpopular opinion incoming:
Look, this game is always going to reward people with deep rosters and highly leveled gear and mods, whether they earned it through time or money, or both. I'm actually in support of that.
Furthermore, this entire argument of "whales have more ally points because they refresh" is such a lame stance. Whales will always have more everything. On top of that, consider it takes 2500 to refresh a character. Each mission will net you 30 ally points. 150 energy would earn you 750 ally points. You need to refresh energy 4 times to net yourself a single character refresh in the tournament. Really takes a ton to meaningfully add up.
I'm not saying it doesn't happen... but I am saying that at least with the current set up you have an immensly better chance than with the original crystal tournaments.
Live Ops will always have a character release plan. The cycle will always be to support spenders first, veterens second, and the rest third. Thats how it is in mobile games, no exception. I think this game has a lot of areas that need help, but frankly, tournaments don't hurt you as much as you think. The alternatives are much worse.
If we can come up with a better way to cycle in new characters, then great. But "just put them in cantina" or "just make them farmable" aren't valid answers. It won't help the bottom line, it won't reward spenders, and the game will be worse off for it (because it will be dead).
