Were there tons of bits of information telling us that their target date was the 21st? Absolutely. But people who didn't see it as a giant red flag that they both refused to *officially* say that was the date, *and* immediately pulled a video that included that date? Come on. Thinking that the date was solid was the product of self-delusion, pure and simple, because everything about CG's behavior said that while the 21st was the target, they had no confidence they would hit it.
The red flag was it's CG/EA.
If they had no confidence they should have held back everything that was pointing to it until they were certain of it.
And they sure knew Weds night and left people hanging until the next afternoon.
Basically your point is expect no better from them which I agree with as this an earned rep.
Actually, my point was pay attention, rather than make assumptions. They were more than transparent enough for us all to be fully aware that the 21st wasn't solid. Reportedly, they didn't make the final decision to wait until Wednesday night. If they had followed your approach and held back everything until the decision was made, it probably would have been pushed back even further, so as to avoid complaints that they sprang it out of the blue.
Assumptions? "more than transparent enough"?
LOL. OK...I get it..you like to argue for fun.
"us all"? What happened to people using words like "everyone" incorrectly? lol
More than clear is not "it could" be the 21st..and "highly likely" in 1-2 weeks. You surely can't think the majority of players sees the pattern of packs released and hears of a video saying the 21st will also come to the forums to find that one retraction. It didn't go out in game did it?
My approach would have been not to release the packs until it was ready, nor allow the video to get out, nor wait until the next afternoon to give people answers.
:
They were transparent enough; whether or not people were paying enough attention to notice is a separate matter. People who get all their news in game didn't see the retraction, that's true; they also didn't see the trailer that got retracted, so why does it matter that they didn't see the retraction? And whatever gave you the idea that the majority of players are paying such close attention to patterns?
I planned and spent as if it was happening on the 21st, that was the safe thing to do. But I'm not blind, and there was nothing even remotely shocking about the fact that they didn't hit that internal target.
