As I've mentioned in other threads related to Cody, part of the problem is his AI and since he's going to be played with Rex in Arena; Rex's AI is also part of the problem.
First, Cody's AI uses his AOE first. With Cody's low potency it's rarely going to stun anybody and compared to Lando, Anakin, and IG88, his AOE damage is probably 33% of what they do; it's a poor way to open the match. Cody should open with 212th Attack because aside from the little damage you get, barely removes Rey's Prot bar, it creates Tempo by getting TM bars going on Sarge and Cody, adding some TM with Echo's basic, and removing TM with Rex, and slowing with 5's if he's in the lineup. Thirdly, the damage from 212th Attack is good but not great; there are several DPS class characters that greatly out-damage Cody AND have better survivability (Rey, Leia, Anakin, IG86, GS). If 212th Attack is left with that level of damage, then the cooldown should be a 3-turn cooldown. GS does 10K+ damage by himself (not counting the ally call) with his assist and it's available every other turn. Lastly, his total health (HP & Prot) are so bad. Even with Mods focused on HP and Prot he is easily one-shotted by Rey, very close with a Leia triple-tap, IG86 is pretty close too, and I'm sure IG88 can get close as well in a JE squad. Cody is a poorly balanced character. Don't get me wrong, his kit is a lot of fun to play, which I guess is part of why I'm pissed about his performance. I enjoy playing him and I get a laugh in GW when I use his AOE against Sidious (Order-66 graphic), but Cody is limited to PVE at best. If the new Tank raid has any phases that do significant damage, he may not see any raid-time either.
Rex does affect Cody's performance as well. Rex is the better lead between the two, I'd rather have JKA lead than Cody lead. I've done well over 100 Arena's with Cody at this point, so I feel prety good in stating that. Rex does not lead with Squad Tactics which puts the Clones at a disadvantage. Aside from protecting them from Old Ben, HK47, etc., it gives a fair amount of TM which gets their tempo going. Without it, the Clones just sit there and get picked off one-by-one. Aside from 5's, none of their HP is all that exceptional even with Mods, so they can't sit around and get punched in the dick. Sarge has good damage on his basic if he crits but that's it, the Clones rely on speed and tempo not power.
That's my opinion on Cody and the Clones in general right now. Rex is at least playable still because he can at least take a Leverage and a basic or two before he's in trouble and if he doesn't get ability blocked on defense he will at least use SqT to cleanse the squad.
