ERA character farming?

Any word on when we can farm the new era characters? It's been ~3 months since Stormtrooper Luke came out, and we had to wait until the end of the era to even use him (not to mention other characters). Now they're unlocked, but useless unless we can upgrade them. 

I miss the old character releases, I feel that they'd have been farmable by now after the initial release. So, do we have to wait another 3 months before we can farm the era characters?

Also, now that we're starting back at the bottom of coliseum, I'm starting to remember how tedious it was at the beginning and I'm already burnt out on it
