The events you mention were prior to the JG for me, so laid out very differently. It's just 30 days of less Fleet rewards than #1. I'll get by - just really disappointed and wish it were clearer.
Yeah, the old JG also had a separate tab with prerequisites from the event tab which had requirements. And I may be mistaken, but I think prerequisites was not the default view. So it was easier to catch. It's not as intuitive to look ahead on the events track.
You may still be able to take #1 if your Malevolence and droid ships are good enough and your TIE fighter can go first. You will also need Ebon Hawk. Being on your fleet shard chat will obviously also help.
