I have never seen that, if that was the case if you have a phasma lead and just put a whole team of counterattackers then they would call assists on them which has never happened. By that logic stick Ayala, 5's, Sun fac, Baze and one Aoe they all have the potential to call assists on their counters wiping everyone so easily. That's why counterattacking isn't an offensive ability it is just an ability.
