Nah, you get max points for those empty slots if you clear those zones. Only way your opponent can match that is if they solo teams in your zones.

*If you clear those zones* being the operative term there. This scoring feature can be "used" in some circumstances to provide an advantage. Specifically, lower GP rosters with a single good team (think GL) can steal banners by blocking a zone AND preventing additional scoring. I've won matches on banners when down a GL (specifically 1 to 0) by trying to reduce the fight to two zones instead of four. This scoring "feature" makes that much harder. Fortunately, everybody I've seen so far (total of 12 rounds in the new GAC across three accounts) has fought with honor.

I believe the point is moot anyway, didn't they say they were addressing this?
