Why is a relic 1 team beating my relic 5 team makes no sense and then it says relic delta 4 some straight

My recurring issue is defeating a tem in GAC, then getting the "your battle has timed out" mesaage which means not only dont i get the win, but i lose the team i used (usually a GL) and permanently lose the 10 point bonus for the first battle. Happened twice already making winning this round impossible.
